Introduction
The Department of microbiology came into existence in the year 2002 with a motto “to cater the microbiological demand of nation in general and purvanchal region in particular as microbiology is one of the most primitive and challenging branch of Science. The Department runs full-time (2 years) Masters’ courses M.Sc. (Microbiology). The department is well equipped with basic and modern facilities yielding trained students who are persuring research at various Institutions/Universities of India and abroad including IMS, IT & Science (BHU), AIIMS, CDRI, ITRC, IIT (Kharagpur), IMTECH, NBAIM, Hydrabad Univ, Max Planck Institute (Germany) and Seoal National University (S. Korea) and also contributing to R&D, production and quality control divisions of various MNCs. The faculty personnel in the department are from diverse fields of specialization ranging from Basic microbiology to industrial microbiology with special emphasis on Bioprocess Technology and Molecular Microbiology. The Department organizes regular seminars during weekends for the students, where students speak on topic of their choice, in order to harness their oration skills and to create general awareness among them on different aspects of burning issues and challenges. Students regularly participate in the extra-curricular activities organized by the Department/University.
